Ok so I am trying my first batch of applesauce. I have never done this before. I am making it in the crockpot. I peeled the gala apples first. I have about 3.5 pounds of apples. I rinsed and then cut and cored them. I put 2 cups of water some sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg into the crockpot. I put it on low for 8 hours. This batch went right into the freezer. I hope to make more soon.

Stovetop Applesauce
So while I wait for my crockpot applesauce to get done I made some on the stove top. I used a recipe I found here. It turned out really good. I'm so glad I made it. Chunky is good too. Never had that before.
4 Apples, I used Fuji
3/4 cup water
1/4 white sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Peel, and core the apples. Put into saucepan with water, sugar and cinnamon. Cover and heat on medium until apples are soft. I mashed with a potato masher and done.

Coupon/stocking up
So today was my first big stocking up/coupon trip. I don't think I did to bad. I got 12 pounds of ground beef which was great because we go through alot of that. I also got 2 chuck roasts, and 6 pounds of pork loin chops all for about $60. At the second store I got 5 pounds of ground turkey, 2 bricks of cheese, and 7 pounds of apples for about $30. I should have taken pictures but I didn't. I will next time though. Overall it was a good trip. I forgot to pick up two things so I will be heading out soon to pick that stuff up along with the kids.
First post
Today I decided to document my journey. I doubt anyone will read it. But now I can look back and see how far I have come and how much I have learned. I can post pictures and recipes to help me remember things I learn along the way.
